Analyzer Ambi Energy 64
s3g Analyzer Ambi Energy 64ch is a fixed 64-in/64-out passthrough analyzer for ACN/SN3D ambisonic signals up to 7OA. It does not alter the audio. It reconstructs a high-resolution rectangular view of energy across the sphere.
Workflow
- Insert
s3g Analyzer Ambi Energy 64chon a correctly routed Ambisonic track after the encoder or field processor you want to inspect. - Follow it with an ambisonic decoder.
- Send audio through the chain and keep the analyzer window open so field analysis and drawing remain active.
- Choose a map and display size, then compare directional concentration, spread, and motion while listening through the decoder.
What It Shows
The display evaluates synchronized HOA snapshots over a 256 x 128 grid of virtual probe directions. This preserves relationships between ambisonic channels instead of treating each channel as an independent meter.
- Body uses orders 0-2 to keep broad and diffuse field energy visible.
- Detail uses the full 7OA field to reveal tighter directional structure.
- Wake leaves a short inverse-color afterimage behind receding energy.
A first-order direction estimate guides contrast and wake movement; it does not add energy to the map. The result is an interpretive field monitor for concentration, spread, and motion, not a calibrated SPL or localization measurement. Its ordered magnitude palettes and inverse-color wake are explained in Interpreting Color.
For raw channel routing, use Analyzer Meter 64. For speaker output after decoding, use the MAP page in Ambi Decoder Speaker 64.
Controls
| Control | Meaning |
|---|---|
| MAP | Chooses between FIELD, BLUE, INK, VOLT, CLASSIC, INFERNO, VIRIDIS, and MAGMA. It changes only the display. |
| SIZE | Selects NORMAL or LARGE. LARGE asks REAPER to expand the embedded GUI near the available screen size; NORMAL restores the default 980 x 560 view. |
The CLAP plugin controls its canvas size, while REAPER owns the surrounding FX window. For an OS-level fullscreen view, float or maximize that REAPER window after selecting LARGE.
Routing
The plugin exposes one 64-channel input bus and one 64-channel output bus. Audio passes through channel-for-channel, and unused output lanes are cleared. Insert it after an ambisonic encoder, after an ambisonic processor, or before a speaker decoder to inspect field behavior without changing the chain.
Field analysis and GPU drawing run only while the custom GUI is open. Closing the window leaves the channel-for-channel passthrough active without visual-analysis work.
