Ambi Encoder Pyrosphere

s3g Ambi Encoder Pyrosphere is the thermal counterpart to Cryosphere: a zero-input geological instrument in which combustion acts on fuel, structures, and rock. It turns heat release, pyrolysis, thermal stress, fracture, spall, pressure, debris, and plume transport into a first-through-seventh-order ACN/SN3D field.

Workflow

  1. Insert s3g Ambi Encoder Pyrosphere on a correctly routed 64-channel Ambisonic track, load a factory scene, and select the output ORDER.
  2. Follow it with an ambisonic decoder.
  3. Start the REAPER transport and listen to the scene's initial material and activity.
  4. Choose a material, then shape its activity with the event, structure, and score controls or move among stored states on the SURF page.

Thermal-Geology Model

The source is aperiodic. Each field voice holds heat, combustion, and material stress; threshold crossings release fractures, spall, fragments, pressure, or collapse. Timber and forest materials also model branches, limbs, and trunks, including a separate fall and ground impact. Noise-based ember and fire textures avoid a persistent pitched oscillator bed.

MATERIAL selects combustion, structural, or planetary behavior. Conventional choices range from gas, wax, peat, timber, coal, and oil to masonry, metal, vegetation, rock, and PRESSURE JET. SILICATE CELLS, SUPERCRITICAL FRONT, SULFUR SLUG VENTS, and THERMOELASTIC LATTICE use separate non-combustion processes.

PRESSURE JET is a continuous source with plenum, jet-core, turbulent-shear, nozzle-hiss, and downstream layers. PRESSURE and HEAT drive it; ROAR, HISS, OXYGEN, and PYROLYSIS shape its color.

The planetary materials model convective cells, supercritical reaction fronts, sulfur pressure cycles, or thermoelastic defect avalanches. Completed events briefly excite scattered thermal-material modes, producing cavity and mineral responses without a tuned strike or continuous resonator bed.

The heat controls shape combustion weight and color; failure controls govern fracture, debris, and structural consequences. IGNITION RATE is a logarithmic 2 mHz–12 Hz event clock, while FLICKER changes instability without changing that rate. PLUME WANDER sets spatial motion from 1 mHz–0.5 Hz. The model is a realtime procedural interpretation informed by fire acoustics, tree motion, and thermal-fracture research—not a simulation or recording player. See References.

Aleatoric entity score

Each field voice is a finite entity with fuel, structural integrity, and ember charge. The score moves it through rest, heating, ignition, propagation, consequence, and aftermath. Fire can spread to nearby entities; burning consumes fuel, weakens structures, and distributes embers before returning to rest. PRESSURE JET is the continuous exception.

PACE sets event turnover, OCCUPANCY sets the active population, CASCADE controls propagation, MEMORY carries patterns between scenes, and REST lengthens quiet intervals. These controls change triggers and physical state, not the final mix level.

Presets and SURF

Eighteen factory scenes establish distinct process regions: Duff Smoulder, Timber Pyrolysis, Resinous Brush, Grass Front, Forest Combustion Front, Root Burn, Coal Seam, Oil Pool, Masonry Thermal Spall, Rock Talus Spall, Structural Collapse, Firestorm Debris Field, Burned Timber Fall, Flamethrower Jet, Silicate Convection Sea, Dense-Atmosphere Hydrocarbon Front, Sulfur Vent Colony, and Mineral Lattice Collapse. The last four use dedicated planetary physics, emphasizing unfamiliar matter, atmosphere, collective pressure exchange, and nonhuman timescales rather than conventional weapon effects.

On the viewport’s SURF page, ADD stores the current preset as a cell and CAP overwrites the selected cell. In PLAY, the automatable Surface X/Surface Y cursor interpolates continuous parameters, including the five score controls; discrete fuel, place, and response choices use the nearest cell. VOICES stays an integer readout while surplus combustion lanes fade continuously in both synthesis and the field drawing. CURVE, FOCUS, and GLIDE shape the morph; POP opens the synchronized surface in an attached utility panel.

Order and Routing

The output bus remains 64 channels wide. ORDER activates the corresponding ACN channels and clears the rest.
