Drum Clap
Drum Clap builds a hit from one to eight band-limited hand contacts, each with controlled timing scatter, plus a diffuse noise tail and a resonant palm cavity. Its standard, flam, and tight articulations change the event structure of that synthesized contact group.
Workflow
- Insert
s3g Drum Clapon a stereo instrument track and sequence notes 39, 40, and 41 for clap, flam, and tight articulations. - Route the track to the main stereo output or a headphone monitor.
- Set
HANDS,SPREAD, andSCATTERfor the contact group. - Shape its color with
TONE,BANDWIDTH,AIR, andTEXTURE. - Balance the short bursts, longer tail, and body before setting width and output trim.
Sound Model
HANDS sets the number of contacts. SPREAD distributes them in time and SCATTER varies their spacing, brightness, and stereo location. BURST DECAY changes each contact's length; ATTACK, BANDWIDTH, AIR, and TEXTURE shape the contact spectrum.
TAIL and TAIL DECAY add the broader following air. BODY, BODY TUNE, and BODY DECAY supply a lower resonant cavity. The flam articulation adds a second contact group at FLAM TIME; the tight articulation compresses the group spacing and tail.
MIDI Articulations
MIDI RECEIVE defaults to OMNI; choose CH 1 through CH 16 to accept only that channel when several drum instruments share one sequencer stream.
| Note | Articulation | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| 39 | Clap | Normal multi-contact group. |
| 40 | Flam Clap | Second group delayed by Flam Time. |
| 41 | Tight Clap | Compressed group spacing and shorter tail. |
Other notes use the standard clap articulation and transpose its tone according to NOTE TRACKING.
Controls
| Panel | Controls | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Hands | Tone / Note Tracking / Hands / Spread / Scatter | Defines the size, timing, and pitch region of the contact group. |
| Contact | Bandwidth / Air / Attack / Burst Decay / Texture | Shapes each short band-limited hand burst. |
| Tail / Body | Tail Decay / Tail / Body / Body Tune / Body Decay | Balances following air and lower palm resonance. |
| Articulation | Flam Time | Sets separation of the two flam groups. |
| Character | Drive / Bias / Compression / Rate Reduction / Bit Depth Reduction / Reconstruction / Character Tone | Adds nonlinear and conversion color. |
| Output / MIDI | Stereo Width / Velocity Sensitivity / Output Gain / MIDI Receive / Trigger | Sets image, dynamics, trim, channel filtering, and three articulation pads. |
Presets and Safe Random
The fourteen presets include BALANCED HANDS, TIGHT STACK, DOUBLE FLAM, WIDE CROWD, DARK ROOM, and DIGITAL CRACK. RANDOM generates a coherent contact ensemble while preserving OUTPUT GAIN, NOTE TRACKING, and VELOCITY SENSITIVITY.
Output
Width distributes individual contacts and the diffuse tail around a stable body. At 0%, the two output channels are identical.
